How the Cement Calculator Works

Our calculator use professionally designed formulas to accurately calculate the dry quantity of cement required for Concrete, Plaster and Brickwork. For example, a commonly used plaster mix ratio of 1:4 (1 part cement and 4 parts sand), calculator calculate the required quantities by using following formula:

Formula: Cement = (Plaster area in square feet × 0.05 × 1.6) / Sum of the ratio (e.g., 5)

Standard Mix Ratios

Concrete

Standard Mix Ratios for Concrete are M5 (1:5:10), M7.5 (1:4:8), M10 (1:3:6), M15 (1:2:4), M20 (1:1.5:3) and M25 (1:1:2)

Note: The first number is for Cement, the second for Sand, and the third for Aggregate.

Plaster

Standard Mix Ratios for Planster are 1:6, 1:5, 1:4 and 1:3

Note: The first number is for Cement, the second for Sand.

Brickwork

Standard Mix Ratios for Brickwork are 1:6, 1:5, 1:4 and 1:3

Note: The first number is for Cement, the second for Sand.

How to Calculate Cement Quantity

Cement Quantity for Concrete

Data Required:

  • Volume of concrete (in cubic meters or cubic feet)
  • Mix ratio (e.g., 1:2:4 for M15 concrete)

Procedure:

  • Formula: (Cement ratio / Sum of ratio) × Dry volume of concrete
  • Dry volume = Wet volume × 1.54
  • For M15 (1:2:4): Sum of ratio = 7, Cement ratio = 1

Cement Quantity for Plaster

Data Required:

  • Area of plaster (in square meters or square feet)
  • Mix ratio (e.g., 1:4 for cement to sand)

Procedure:

  • Formula: (Cement ratio / Sum of ratio) × Plaster dry volume
  • Plaster dry volume = Plaster area in sft × 0.05 × 1.6
  • For 1:4: Sum of ratio = 5, Cement ratio = 1

Cement Quantity for Brickwork

Data Required:

  • Volume of brickwork (cubic meters or cubic feet)
  • Mix ratio (e.g., 1:6 for cement to sand)

Procedure:

  • Formula: (Cement ratio / Sum of ratio) × Brickwork volume × 1.6 × 0.16
  • For 1:4: Sum of ratio = 5, Cement ratio = 1

Conversion Factors used in Cement Calculator

  • 1 cubic meter (cum) = 35.32 cubic feet (cft)
  • 1 square meter (sqm) = 10.76 square feet (sft)
  • 1 Cement bag = 1.25 cft & 0.0354 cum
